Having high expectations of a team’s performance from management is normal. However, it is far better to COMMAND high productivity through management’s own example, rather than to merely DEMAND it – from top down. This has been shown over and over again throughout the ages.
The happiest (and therefore most productive) teams of employees will tell you that they felt like they were led by example. The management has surely been where they are – and if they actually haven’t walked in their shoes, they have a way of empathizing and relating.
